About Us

The Viennese Table is a specialty homebakeshop located at the heart of Tacloban City, in the province of Leyte, Philippines, selling cakes, pastries and other delicacies strictly on a made-to-order basis.

The Viennese Table is owned and operated by husband and wife team Gil and Cecille Asoy. Gil handles sales and logistics while Cecille is the creative drive behind baking the most original cakes this side of the world. They bring twenty two years of experience to assure product quality, operations efficiency, excellence in service, professionalism in client relations and ethical business practice. Gil, a native of Tacloban, was Assistant to the Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry while Cecille, from Nasugbu, Batangas, was manager of the Mortgage Banking Dep't. of Union Bank of the Philippines. Both retired early, at the height of their successful careers, leaving the rat-race of Manila to take time raising their daughter, Camille, in the relaxed atmosphere of the province.

Established in 1993, The Viennese Table started out producing puto-cutchinta for sale in the different school canteens of Tacloban City. After only a few months, these same items were being delivered to various restaurants through out Tacloban. Cecille then introduced sapin-sapin to the local market, a desert not generally available in the province, using her own special recipe it came into great demand! Fresh lumpia was also presented to, and readily accepted by, the Taclobanons. Cakes, pastries and the other products followed soon after. Presently, The Viennese Table supplies local caterers, hotels, restaurants and food-franchise holders , as well as serving a large walk-in clientele.

Intrigued with the Internet Cecille put up the first website for The Viennese Table in March 2001. They were surprised when the first overseas order came in for a birthday cake for a little girl in Tacloban City. This has precipitated an ever-grwing international clientele, which has expanded the realm of orders for the home based Viennese Table. Gil makes arrangements for the delivery and shipment of the orders from Catarman, Northern Samar down to Maasin, Southern Leyte. Their advancement to DSL necessitated the acquisition of their own domain names thereby giving birth to www.cecillecakes.com and www.asoy.biz.
